If you are a cat parent, you would perhaps be looking to find the best ways to make your feline friend happy at all times. The best way that this can be done is through providing it the right environment that that it thrivess in. One of the prime factors to help you make this possible is to create an ambiance with the sounds cats love to hear.
So, here we are – with a list of the sounds that can make your cat happy.
What sounds do cats love?
Well, that should be a huge list. My cat – Chingu – does have a lot of preferences, and so do several cats out there. Each of the cats may have their own set of sounds that they love to hear.
Even then, I went through a close observation of my own cat to find what she loves the most. And here are a few sounds that I could find can soothe the cats.
1. A sound that mimics their prey
Cats prefer a sound that mimics their prey. It is observed that the cats would love listening to the sounds in high frequency range such as 85 Khz. This sound is almost simialr to the sounds that arise when you listen to the sounds like natural squeaks, chirps, and buzzes. It mimics the sounds similar to birds, mice, and insects.
2. Your voice
Cats love their owner’s voice more than anything else. In fact, they come with a unique ability where they can efficiently distinguish between the individual voices. They can recognise your unique scent, and even recognise the tone of your voice.
If you find your cat agitated, you can have a conversation with her in a soothing tone. Singing a soft melody can also be a good option to provide it the much needed relief.
3. Soft music
Cats tend to love soft music. with their heightened sende of music, cats hate loud noises. However, soft music can make it happy. In fact, I have noticed that whenever I play very soft music when my cat is stressed out, she calms down immediately. Playing classical music softly at a low volume can effectively calm down your cat.
You can perhaps try out a few YouTube channels that play cat-specific music.
4. Sounds of food can
Have you noticed that your cat comes running to you when it hears the sound of its food can being opened? Well, I have found that no matter how far away our cat may be, it comes running to us whenever we open its food can – even just for the sake.
Along with the sound, this may also have something to do with the powerful sense of smell that cats possess. The sense of smell of a cat is 14 times more powerful than us humans.
5. Natural sounds
Sounds of nature are another powerful way to make your cat happy. They are similar to us humans when it comes to listening to the sounds of nature. However, some cats may respond differently to certain sounds of the nature.
6. Dripping water
You may not believe it, but the sound of dripping water attracts the cats and tends to make them go calm. I noticed this – once again – because of the reaction shown by my cat whenevver it begins to rain. She simply runs to the window and sits for hours listening to the sound of the rain drops.
7. Rustling and rattling
Rustling and rattling signifies the mealtime or even playtime for your cat. I have observed that my cat responds positively to a rustling sound and demands play. This can perhaps be due to its wild instincts where the rustling is associated with the prey which is nearby.
In Conclusion
cats have an impressive sense of hearing. That would make them respond positively to the noises and sounds. They would love to experience the sounds that mimic their preys such as rattling and rustling.
However, when it is time to rest, they would typically prefer listeing to some soothing sound such as natural sounds and soft classical music.
